Class Policies

General:

Students are expected to arrive to class on time.

In order to perfect and progress through the class, as part of the student’s responsibility, it is imperative that, the student practice the skills and dance items taught in class at home. Guardians are expected to encourage and monitor their practice.

Tuition:

The tuition is collected at the beginning of the month.

Make Up Lessons:

For a one-on-one student a 24 hour notification is required if  they are unable  to attend the class. Last minute notification will be charged as a regular class.

For group students a make over will be given when 3 or more students have missed the class.

Dress Code:

Comfortable top and full tights / pants, with hair tied in a braid or pony tail.
No footwear permitted on the dance studio floor

Photo / Video-taping:

No photos or videos are allowed in the studio premises unless instructed by the teacher.

No food items (including chewing gums) are allowed inside the dance school studio. 

 

At what age can a child begin classes?

We usually admit children starting at age 5.  

When do you accept new students?

Admissions are open all year round.  We do admit students who have already learnt bharathanatyam from else where. We will assess their level and determine a suitable class that matches their proficiency.

How often are classes held?

Group classes are typically held once a week.  One -on-one students can be accommodated for more than one class upon request.

How long are the classes?

The class duration is typically for an hour. During intense practice for productions and programs, the class can be longer.

Do you teach adults?

Yes, we teach adults. We have adults who are beginners, others who have learnt dance before, and are returning after a hiatus, and mothers joining their daughters as well!

Do you teach boys?

Yes. The school enrolls male students as well!

What should I bring for class?

Students should bring a notebook, pen or pencil, water bottle.
