Payal Sandane

(2-Aug-2009) Payal Sandane has been training Bharatanatyam under Guru Rupa for many years. Dance has taught her discipline, and at the same time, helps her get a deeper insight to the rich Indian culture. She says Bharatanatyam is an inspiration in her everyday life as well. This art form has inspired her to be a dedicated, disciplined, and hardworking student in all the tasks she faces. She has participated in many cultural events for different organizations. Aside from her obvious interest, she was the president of her school dance team and participated in various inter school/college dance competitions.

Ishika Cividi

(20-Aug-2016) Ishika Cividi completed her Freshman year and will be a sophomore this fall at Clements High School. Her mother recognized her passion for dance and started Bharatanatyam training under Guru Rupa from a tender age of 5 years old. She has participated in many cultural events for different organizations. Learning Bharatanatyam from a young age has allowed her to learn and express the stories of Hinduism through this dance form. She is extremely thankful to be able to learn and perfect such a art form. Besides dancing, she also plays competitive tennis for her school, has been the member of school choir, has trained in classical Carnatic music for many years, loves ice-skating, skiing.

Aria Shankar

(3-Sep-2017) Aria Shankar completed her sophomore year and will be a junior this fall at Clements High School. Aria's interest in dance started with her first ballet class at the age of 3. Aria started her Bharatanatyam training under Guru Rupa at the young age of 5 years old. In the last 10 years, Aria has grown to love and appreciate this form of Indian classical dance through new dances, and performing at various multicultural events. Bharatanatyam has been an outlet for Aria to express her creativity while having fun, and is very dear to her. Aside from her obvious interest, she also has been learning piano for the last few years and takes part in various state level piano competitions. In her free time, Aria enjoys learning the ukulele, guitar and singing. She has trained for and completed 4 half marathons. At her school, Aria is part of the Science National Honor Society, English National Honor society, Student Council, and has been in various musicals and plays with the Clements Theater Department
