The dance school focuses on achieving exceptional standards of Indian Classical dance. We believe in nurturing creativity and artistic development, and offer a warm and positive environment to foster the growth that all aspiring dancers want and need.
Students at Nupur are trained in the art while maintaining its pristine purity. Constant effort is made to make the teaching as effective and interesting as possible, in the traditional Gurukul way, without compromising on the technical aspects of style. It aims not just to teach dance for the year-end recital or performing at various events but to also introduce many skills necessary to become an accomplished and astute learner for years to come.
Our Mission
Nupur Center of Performing Arts (NCPA) mission is to instill in students a love for Bharatanatyam, and to provide guidance and encouragement that supports the development of a true dancer’s grace, perfection, and perseverance. The center hopes to carry forward this sublime art to as many youngsters of today as possible.
The school provides students of all ages with the skills to enjoy music and dance for a lifetime! Dance being a performing art, deserving students are given ample opportunities to perform on the stage year-round. Performing on the stage develops self-confidence and aids overall personality growth of the students.
Meet The Founder - Mrs. Medinee ( Rupa) Aranke
Nupur Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) was founded by Mrs. Rupa who has a Masters degree in classical dance from University of Bombay. She started the center in 1988 in Mumbai, India, with a vision to expose the richness of Indian culture and heritage through the medium of dance. She continued her passion with the same zeal after migrating to USA in 2002 and is helping in enriching our next generation of Indo American students learn this divine art and understand the deep rooted culture behind it.
Ms. Rupa has been imparting her knowledge of the classical dance form of Bharatanatyam successfully for the past 30+ years. At Nupur students are given a solid base in Bharatanatyam, a classical dance style from the southern state of India. Folk dances of India , semi classical and fusion is also introduced eventually.
Ms. Rupa has taken on a lifelong mission to expose the richness of Indian culture and heritage through the medium of dance. To her students, she is the giver of identity, self pride, cultural enlightenment, grace, discipline, and celebration of beauty, friendship, and admiration.
